About Cardiology Care

Dr Nisar Shah MBBS, MRCPI, FCPS, FRCP gained his medical degree in 1998 and completed his postgraduate training in General (Internal) Medicine. He completed his subspecialty training in heart failure and complex implantable cardiac devices at the University of Wales, Cardiff and has worked at leading UK cardiac centres.

Dr Shah was appointed as a Consultant Cardiologist at Sandwell & West Birmingham NHS Trust in 2019, where he leads the syncope service. As well as dealing with the full range of general cardiology, he runs specialist services in his main subspecialty interests including diagnosis and management of heart failure, cardiomyopathies, heart rhythm problems and recurrent blackouts. He has taken part in several research projects and has published in peer-reviewed journals.

Dr Shah is a Fellow of the College of Physicians and Surgeons (FCPS General Medicine) and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London. He is also a member of the Royal College of Physicians (Ireland) and is certified by the British Heart Rhythm Society (BHRS UK) and the Heart Failure Association of European Society of Cardiology.

Consultation

Dr Shah is committed to delivering the best possible care in the least stressful manner for anyone worried about their heart health. Whether attending for a first consultation or a second opinion, patients can be sure that they will receive a thorough evaluation of their health problem and expert advice.

Patients are advised to bring a GP’s referral letter, if possible, although Dr Shah can offer appointments in situations where a GP’s letter cannot be obtained.

Dr Shah offers consultation in English, Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi.
