Thrush is also known as candidiasis. It is an infection caused by a yeast fungus called candida albicans. Oral thrush and vaginal thrush are its 2 major types. Symptoms of oral thrush are sores and white patches in the mouth, angular cheilitis, burning sensation on the tongue and an unpleasant taste. Treatment is performed with antifungal medicines, which include miconazole, fluconazole and nystatin. Vaginal thrush presents as soreness, itching and cracked skin around the vagina. Antifungal medicines used to treat vaginal thrush are fluconazole, itraconazole and clotrimazole.
