Although my treatment is ongoing I wanted to post a review about the excellent service I have received from physio Sue Swaney. I began seeing her in August for a badly swollen and very painful knee due to a fall. I initially saw her every week but now it's fortnightly. The exercises Sue has given me have helped to improve my walking steadily. As well as that she has encouraged and reassured me when I felt anxious and depressed when I felt that despite working hard on the physio I wasn't improving quickly enough. Everything Sue has suggested has helped and although I still have work to do I'm very happy with my recovery so far. Her kindness, calmness and patience have lifted my spirits everytime I've visited and can't thank her enough. Pine Hill and all her patients are very lucky to have her.

I have just had surgery for removal of a cataract in my left eye.The operation was performed by Dr sunderam,who is an excellent consultant,he made the whole experience as stress free as l ever could have lmagined,and was very informative throughout.I would not hesitate to recommend Dr sunderam to others requiring this surgery.

The nurses on the ward were all very caring and professional.

The whole process from pre-op through check-in on the day, the operation and post-op care for two days was of the highest standard. All staff were very professional and efficient and the care from the nurses and health care assistance post-op was excellent. The support functions were equally excellent (cleaning and catering services staff) with friendly helpful approach to their service. Only criticism would be the lack of information provided by the nurses at discharge time when handing over the drugs to take home, thinking they would be included in my insurance coverage; some were items cheaper obtained outside (paracetamol, ibuprofen) and include a prescription that I already have from my GP (Codeine 30 mg) so did not think to ask if I would then be charged later, which I was.

During Nov and Feb I unfortunately had to have two separate operations. One for my shoulder in which Mr Rumian performed keyhole surgery and the other for a thyroidectomy performed by Mr Mochloulis. Diagnosis to treatment time was very quick in both cases. The standard of professional care from consultants, doctors and nurses was exemplary. I was kept fully informed by all professionals throughout all the procedures maintaining high standards from start to finish

Complications did arise as there was infection which was not envisaged. The stay extended to 9 days instead of the planned 4. However the post operative care was excellent and the staff were always helpful.

I had a view from the room as there was a balcony.

The choice of food was very good especially during the weekdays.

I really have nothing negative to say about Pinehill. I certainly had great care. The shoulder consultant was excellent.

The op was scheduled for 3pm, didn't take place till 7.15pm which was okay except I was starving, and when I came round was offered only a choice of sandwiches - not quite the a la carte I was led to expect! The nurses and consultant were excellent but I was disappointed to be woken at 5am asking if I wanted painkillers and having to ask 3 times for water to drink! Luckily we realised I would need to take my own towels and shower gel, wonder how many were caught out by this. Again, breakfast was just Weetabix, bit disappointed at that. The discharge dragged on a while but on the whole very satisfied and grateful at the surgeon's skill

Having previously had Mr Powles operate on my other knee in 2011, I was happy to return to have this one fixed. All the staff from nurses, anaesthetist and surgeon were really friendly and helpful. The scars from my last operation have completely disappeared so I'm sure these ones will too (not that I've looked yet).

The hospital is really clean and tidy.

Visiting Pinehill hospital is like checking in to a family run hotel that is professional, friendly and clean but offering excellent medical care. From the reception team to the administration team, porters, catering team, cleaners, nurses, anaesthetists and consultants they all excel in their duties.
They all get along with each other creating a happy working atmosphere which feeds into excellent patient care.
Each time I am admitted to Pinehill hospital I'm never anxious or concerned regarding my procedure as I know I'm in a caring and highly trained medical establishment. I always look forward to my visit as I'm made to feel like a guest with very special care added ! For me it's always a real treat to stay at Pinehill hospital.
When I need medical attention I always use a consultant that practices from Pinehill hospital I personally feel confident that Pinehill hospital will have the very best medical consultants and their teams to perform my medical procedures and it hasn't disappointed me !

I had a fall at home and spent 6 days in the Lister [NHS]. Luckily nothing was broken but I cut my head and had a bad pain in my hip. I was badly shaken up and was quite bruised. After 6 days I felt OK and they wanted to discharge me I didn't really feel well enough to go home. I decided to go to Pinehill Hospital in Hitchin for a few days as I had to have a stair lift fitted at home and also I felt that I needed bait of extra help. I stayed in a lovely en-suite room overlooking the garden - the room even had a balcony. From the moment I arrived I felt cared for.
Dr Seevaratnam came to see me every day to check on my progress. The waitresses and cleaners were lovely and very kind. The food was amazing. I had prawn cocktail as a starter on my first day which is my favourite. I cannot have anything with onion in it and that was no trouble for the kitchen. They even remembered every day how I liked my coffee. It was lovely that visitors could come and see me at any time.
One of the best things was the physiotherapy. In the 6 days I was in the Lister, I only saw a Physiotherapist twice. In Pinehill I saw them twice a day which I really think helped me get mobile.
All the staff were lovely but I must mention Ann Marie who kept popping in to see me. I ended up staying in Pinehill for 6 days and I think it really helped me. It was really quiet and peaceful (unlike the ward at the Lister!). It was not as expensive as I was expecting either. About the cost of an all inclusive hotel. I am now at home and don't even have carers coming in now so I am just about back to normal. I would recommend Pinehill to anyone.Thank you Pinehill!

Pinehill - very disappointing children's care from Welwyn (aged 35 yrs) treated for Tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy and grommets

I was very disappointed by the care and attitude of the RSCN we had looking after my son. After his operation he wasn't eating and still bringing up a lot of blood. It was nearing 9pm and she clearly wanted to get home so was expecting us to leave despite me being on my own with him and not being happy to be in the back of the car on his own. She made it clear that even if he did stay in he would have to be gone by 9am as she had a coffee date with an old school friend...!!!! Wouldn't expect this on the NHS let alone when I'm paying a large amount of money for my son's care. Very disappointed after such a fabulous outcome from an amazing Consultant.

I was referred to Pinehil for an operation which I was dreading. I was really nervous but ALL the staff, front the front of house to the ward nurses to surgeon, did everything they could to reassure me of the process, the timescales and what was going to happen. The service I received was like checking into a 5 star hotel.
This was my first experience going through a Private Hospital and it exceeded my expectations.
I would have No Hesitation in recommending Ramsey Pinehill Hospital.
Thank you for making a really scary procedure much more bearable.

Each and every member of the team are kind, considerate and they listen! For example I would let the nurse know that I didn't want to be disturbed as I wanted to sleep, and they didn't disturb me! The ward was quiet, as were the team.
I explained to the anaesthetist that I always vomit when I wake up, and please ensure I had a bowl, he said he would make sure I didn't (I didn't believe him!) And I didn't! Thank you.
My room overlooked the garden and beautiful trees that were in blossom, so very calming. Everywhere was spotlessly clean, and everyone washed their hands. The food was lovely. If I ever need another operation, I will choose Pinehill. (And I've been in other private hospitals!)

Having attended a Menopause evening at Pinehill last year I remembered Mr Webb saying the 'any bleeding 2 years after periods have ended, should be treated as abnormal.' I went to see my GP who referred me to Mr Salvesen. Within 1 week he saw me and removed the growth. He sent me for a scan and within a few days I had the results and everything was fine. The NHS is fantastic but this would have taken weeks or months to see a consultant and get the results. The speed of everything was great and saved me months of worrying. Pinehill was fantastic and the nurses were amazing.

Prostate treatment is embarrassing, undignified and uncomfortable so I was very pleased by the attitude of the staff which was helpful and supportive. After the procedure they had to pour gallons of saline through which involved very frequent attention for a whole day. I was impressed by their diligence.

Good food and a good menu choice, promptly delivered in courses. Nice clean room with plenty of space and a nice view.

Two negatives were the brief appearance of an undergraduate nurse. OK she has to learn but not on my bill. Sorry just don't want someone 40 years younger handling my bits. The other was the arrival of some visitors at close to 10pm who had to find their way from an unattended reception.

From admission to discharge the whole experience was one that went very smoothly in every department. The friendly manner of all the staff is one i shall remember.
Every stage of the procedure was explained in a simple manner giving a calming influence.
The after care, all be it for my 1 night stay was excellent. There was a great deal of care shown to me as a patient and checks were made regularly to see if i was either ok or just simply required anything. The food was very nice and service was with a smile which is nice to see. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Pinehill for making my stay a very pleasant one.
