Miss Rachel O’Connell is a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at The Royal Marsden in London. She specialises in oncoplastic breast surgery, combining breast cancer removal with plastic surgery techniques to achieve the best possible cosmetic appearance following treatment. Rachel works collaboratively with plastic surgeons at The Royal Marsden to offer a complete range of reconstructive options. She adopts a holistic approach to patient care and works closely with her oncology colleagues at The Royal Marsden to ensure that every patient receives the highest quality of care.
Rachel qualified from the University of Bristol Medical School in 2007 and completed her surgical training within the London Deanery. Her training also included a Royal College of Surgeons of England funded MD research degree at The Royal Marsden/Institute of Cancer Research, investigating cosmetic outcomes after breast cancer surgery and an Oncoplastic Breast Surgery Fellowship at The Royal Marsden in 2020/1.
Rachel’s research interests include improving surgical outcomes in breast cancer to improve the lives of women living with and beyond breast cancer. She has published over 40 peer reviewed articles and has presented her work internationally. She has also been awarded national and international prizes for her research work.
Rachel is available for private consultation at The Royal Marsden Private Care in Cavendish Square and The Royal Marsden in Chelsea.
