Vasileios Kefalas: Consultant Hand and Wrist Surgeon, Southampton
With more than 23 years' experience, Mr Vasileios Kefalas is a highly experienced Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hand, wrist and elbow surgery. He graduated from the Medical School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1996 and completed his compulsory service in the Greek Army Medical Department, during which time he also worked as a General Practitioner. He subsequently undertook specialist training in orthopaedics, gaining his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Trauma and Orthopaedics in 2007.
Mr Kefalas relocated to the UK in 2008, completing an Upper Limb Fellowship at Wrightington Hospital in Wigan, followed by a Senior Upper Limb Fellowship at Southampton General University Hospital. He was added to the GMC Specialist Register that same year. In 2013, Mr Kefalas was awarded the European Diploma in Hand Surgery by the Federation of European Societies for Surgery of the Hand (FESSH). He is also a member of the British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH).
Mr Kefalas has been practising at Practice Plus Group Hospital, Southampton since 2010, where he offers a broad range of hand and wrist procedures, including carpal tunnel decompression, trigger finger release, ganglion cyst removal, excision of soft tissue tumours, ligament reconstruction, Dupuytren’s contracture surgery, trapeziectomy and wrist arthroscopy.
Fluent in English, German, Greek, and Romanian, Mr Kefalas is well equipped to communicate effectively with patients from a variety of backgrounds, ensuring high-quality, patient-centred care.
