Kamran Shahid: Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in Birmingham
Mr Kamran Shahid graduated from the University of Edinburgh Medical School in 2004, finishing his final year ranked first in General Medicine. Following completion of the South West Basic Surgical Training Programme, he entered the UK Specialist Registrar Training Programme (StR) in Trauma and Orthopaedics within the West Midlands Deanery. During this time, he spent a significant period at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham, gaining in-depth experience in both primary and revision total hip and knee replacement surgery.
After achieving his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery, Mr Shahid pursued advanced fellowship training in hip and knee arthroplasty, covering both primary and revision procedures, in the UK and abroad. His international fellowship at the Hip and Knee Institute in Manitoba, Canada, along with a UK fellowship at Barts Health NHS Trust, enabled him to develop specialist expertise in the management of complex hip and knee joint conditions. He further expanded his knowledge through a fellowship at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospital in Chertsey, with a focus on soft tissue knee injuries and complex trauma.
Mr Shahid holds a particular interest in the treatment of both primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty cases, including soft tissue-related knee conditions.
Mr Shahid worked as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust (DGT), specialising in hip and knee arthroplasty and soft tissue knee surgery and participating in the trauma on-call rota before joining Practice Plus Group Hospitals in a Consultant role. He has additionally worked part time as a Major Trauma Consultant at University Hospitals Birmingham since August 2018.
