Mr Jonathan Anthony Dunne is a London-based Consultant Plastic Surgeon specialising in skin cancer treatment, facial reconstruction, facial aesthetic surgery, mole removal, Mohs surgery, blepharoplasty and deep plane facelift procedures, with more than 15 years of specialist experience.


Education & experience

Mr Jonathan Dunne is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon and Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Plastic Surgery) with over 15 years of experience in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. They trained at the University of Bristol before completing higher Plastic Surgery Training in London, developing a particular focus on skin cancer management and facial plastic surgery.

Following their specialist training, they undertook an additional two years of advanced fellowships covering minimally invasive facial skin cancer treatment through Mohs surgery, head and neck microvascular surgery, facial palsy management, craniofacial surgery and aesthetic surgery. This extensive training has provided them with expertise across both reconstructive and cosmetic aspects of facial surgery.

Their further specialist training took place internationally, including fellowships and advanced experience in Melbourne, Boston and Stockholm. They also completed aesthetic surgery training at leading London institutions including The Wellington Hospital, King Edward VII's Hospital, The London Clinic, and St John & St Elizabeth Hospital.

Mr Dunne is currently the Lead Clinician for the Imperial Skin Cancer Service and founded the Imperial Facial Reconstruction Centre, a collaborative specialist service dedicated to complex facial reconstruction. They are also co-founder of Montrose London, a dermatology and plastic surgery clinic offering specialist care. Their experience spans everything from complex skin cancer surgery and facial reconstruction to cosmetic facial procedures and routine mole removal, with each treatment benefiting from their detailed understanding of facial anatomy, aesthetics and oncological principles.

Research interests

Mr Dunne holds an MSc in Health Research from the University of Leeds and has made significant contributions to academic plastic surgery. They have co-authored the Oxford Handbook of Head & Neck Anatomy and have published more than 50 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters.

Their research focuses on improving understanding and evidence-based treatment for skin cancer, melanoma, skin lesions and facial plastic surgery. They have been particularly involved in advancing clinical knowledge around melanoma management and treatment outcomes.

They currently serve as Principal Investigator for the international MelMarT-II melanoma trial at Imperial and Chief Investigator for the international DEPLOY desmoplastic melanoma study. Through these leadership roles, they remain actively involved in research that helps shape contemporary approaches to skin cancer treatment.

Mr Dunne's clinical practice centres on skin cancer surgery, facial reconstruction and facial aesthetic surgery. They have particular expertise in the diagnosis and surgical management of moles, cysts and both benign and malignant skin lesions, combining oncological safety with careful attention to cosmetic outcomes.

Their specialist interest in facial reconstruction includes complex procedures involving the nose, eyelids, ears and other facial structures. Extensive experience in reconstructive surgery following cancer treatment and trauma has informed their meticulous approach to facial restoration and preservation of function.

Within aesthetic surgery, they specialise in deep plane facelift procedures and upper and lower blepharoplasty.
