Farhan Zaidi : Consultant Ophthalmologist in Ilford
Mr Farhan Zaidi is a highly experienced consultant ophthalmologist and ophthalmic surgeon, with over 12 years of consultant-level practice. He graduated with honours from University College London Medical School in 1994, receiving several academic prizes, including one for greatest proficiency overall. Following general surgical training at UCL and Barts Hospitals, he was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS).
Mr Zaidi gained experience in plastic surgery on the Professorial Unit at UCL Hospitals and undertook his specialist ophthalmology training in London, rotating through Moorfields and other leading teaching hospitals, where he developed expertise in cataract surgery. He went on to complete Fellowships in oculoplastic surgery and medical retina. In addition to being a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth), he holds a PhD in ophthalmology from Imperial College London, with his research widely cited in the field.
With extensive experience as an NHS consultant, including in emergency ophthalmology, Mr Zaidi holds senior consultant positions in the NHS. In 2017, he was appointed Clinical Lead for South West London Diabetic Eye Screening Services. He joined the ophthalmology team at Practice Plus Group Hospital, Ilford and the Surgical Centre, Gillingham in 2019 as a substantive consultant specialising in cataract surgery, oculoplastic surgery and medical retina, where he remains an active member of the team.
Mr Zaidi has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and presented his work at both national and international conferences.
