Dimitrios Miligko: Consultant Gynaecologist in Southampton

Mr Dimitrios Miligkos gained his medical degree from the University of Athens, Greece. He then moved to the UK for his specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology, becoming a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in 2014. Mr Miligkos is the Clinical Lead for Gynaecology and Outpatient Hysteroscopy at Princess Anne Hospital, Southampton. Passionate about women's wellbeing and reproductive health, he has been instrumental in improving the hospital's gynaecology service, strategy development and long term workforce strategy planning. Mr Miligkos performs advanced laparoscopic surgery and operative hysteroscopy. His main clinical interests are minimal access surgery and treatment for endometriosis, pelvic pain and menstrual disorders, as well as colposcopy. 

 

Mr Miligkos is actively involved in research and was awarded an PhD for his investigations into the role of Insulin-like Growth Factors in the pathogenesis of endometriosis. He has published several research papers in peer reviewed medical journals and has been the primary investigator for Southampton in multi centre research studies on endometriosis and menstrual disorders. He holds a Fellowship in advanced laparoscopic surgery for the excision of severe endometriosis and is a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy, European Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy, British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology and the British Menopause Society.
