Vale Healthcare is pleased to be able to offer private GP services, in conjunction with 'Cardiff and Vale Private GP practice', led by local GP Dr Sara Thomas.
Penarth based doctor Sara Thomas, whose work at Albert Road Surgery will not be affected by the new project, has launched the Cardiff and Vale Private GP Practice and is now running clinics from Vale Healthcare's Cardiff Bay Clinic and the Vale Hospital.
Clinics are currently operating Tuesday to Friday afternoon and evenings in the Cardiff Bay Clinic, and from the Vale Hospital in Hensol on Saturday mornings.
Appointments and access to a range of medicines and services, from blood tests to x-rays, are already available at the Vale Healthcare Cardiff Bay Clinic, so can be linked in with the GP service for immediate access and patient convenience.
At the new Saturday clinic in Hensol, appointments and prescriptions are available, with follow-up xrays and tests available at both sites Monday to Thursday until 8pm, and Fridays until 4pm.
Dr Thomas talks of the major benefits.
"It is aimed at people who don't, won't or can't get time off during the working week to see their NHS GP, or who want the luxury of a 30-minute appointment with access to on-site blood tests/x-rays and consultant support, and most medicines also available if needed too," she said.
"Other users would be those who are not covered by the NHS.
"Any contact is also independent and totally separate to other providers, with no shared information, so it is highly confidential.
"It's all about providing a good quality service at a time that's convenient, and all in one place," she added.
