Mr Saurabh S Mehta uses the most effective treatments including the latest minimally invasive procedures to treat conditions affecting the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand
He offers expert assessment and the latest treatments, including minimally invasive keyhole surgeries for musculoskeletal injuries.
With over 20 years’ experience in upper limb surgery, Mr Mehta is skilled in dealing with a wide variety of conditions affecting the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand including rotator cuff pathology, frozen shoulder, impingement, arthritis, nerve entrapment (cubital tunnel or carpal tunnel syndrome), sports injuries, and fractures and trauma.
Minimally-invasive Key-hole surgery (Arthroscopy)
Mr Mehta has a specialist interest and expertise in minimally-invasive key-hole surgery. Also known as arthroscopy, this technique involves the insertion of pencil-sized instruments through a small incision to investigate and treat problems affecting the inside of a joint.
Associated with less surgical trauma and quicker recovery times, arthroscopy can be used to diagnose and treat a range of shoulder and elbow conditions, including:
- Rotator cuff tear
- Frozen shoulder
- Shoulder and Biceps pain
- Bankart tear
- Recurrent dislocation
- Shoulder impingement and Acromioclavicular (AC) joint pain
- Calcific Tenidinopathy
- SLAP tear
- Biceps tear
- Arthritis of the shoulder
- Shoulder instability
Rotator cuff tear reconstruction with Allograft (Acellular dermal Matrix)
Mr Mehta also deals with complex irreparable rotator cuff tear of shoulder. In such cases in young patients where arthritis hasn’t been established he offers treatment with allograft to reconstruct the rotator cuff, which is otherwise not repairable.
Shoulder and elbow replacement
Mr Mehta provides the full range of modern surgeries to replace the shoulder joint, including stemless total shoulder replacement, partial shoulder replacement, reverse shoulder replacement and revision shoulder replacement. He also offers total elbow replacement.
All joint replacement surgery is performed at the University Hospital of North Midlands in Stoke on Trent or County Hospital, Stafford.
What patients say about Saurabh S Mehta
Previous to my operation, I was virtually rendered incapacitated with my right shoulder. After my operation by Dr. Mehta, which I can say is a total success, my ability to move my arms has improved by 95%. I have virtually no pain and can do more daily activities than before my operation. I whole heartedly would recommend surgery by Mr Mehta. I have 100% confidence in his ability as a surgeon.by Anon
