My inguinal keyhole hernia repair was performed by David Ratcliff at the BMI 3 Shires. David, clearly very experienced, was always professional, reassuring and sympathetic right from the initial consultation through to my discharge. My thanks go to him and his team as do my recommendation.

I have just had the joy of being discharged by this surgeon. I have had a year of removal of gallstones and then finally the gallbladder and at all times Mr Ratliff was kind, reassuring, positive and totally professional. The final operation to remove the gallbladder was not without stress as yet more stones appeared in the gallbladder and the operation took longer than expected. At all times Mr Ratliff kept my family in the picture as they waited for me to come back to my room and I cannot over state how grateful we are to him. Thank you. Doris K and family.

Following a parathyroidectomy by Mr Ratliff evidence of cancer was discovered. I then had a full thyroidectomy. This was around 2011. I recovered well. I am reviewed yearly. Throughout all this time I have been very happy with all my treatment and ongoing care. Mr Ratliff has made me feel confident in my recovery and continues to reassure me. He has been very professional, positive and makes me pleased to be seen by him annually. Many thanks for all that has been done.

I saw Mr Ratliff for recurring varicose veins. I am very happy with the results of surgery which has provided a great improvement in what was becoming a difficult and uncomfortable condition. I have no hesitation in recommending Mr Ratliff whose expertise and experience, together with the know-how of his team, and the pleasant conditions at the Three Shires hospital have enabled me to make a successful recovery from this operation.

I was referred to Mr David Ratliff after a visit to A&E with severe chest pains. I was diagnosed with gallstones and Mr Ratliff arranged for an operation to remove my gallbladder. From the first meeting with Mr Ratliff through to today when he formally discharged me from his care, I was very impressed with his professionalism which shone through at every meeting but also his kindness. He explained everything in detail but made sure he did not baffle me with medical jargon and I always felt that he had my best interest at heart. I would highly recommend him.

After being referred with high PTH, Mr Ratliff explained the various options open to me in a very clear and easy to understand way. He was very professional and made me feel at ease very quickly. Following 'non-positive' scans, I went for the operation to identify and remove two parathyroid glands. Again both the 3 Shires (BMI) Staff, Anaesthetist and Mr Ratliff ensured that I was made to feel comfortable throughout my stay in Hospital. After the successful operation, I was very pleased that the scarring was virtually gone within 3 -4 weeks. I cannot recommend Mr Ratliff highly enough.

I had suffered for many years with very unsightly and sometimes irritable varicose veins in both legs, with the left leg looking so bad I would not wear shorts, no matter what the weather. My GP recommended David Ratliff, and following a consultation, I decided to have both legs operated on. The results are truly amazing, no longer do I feel self conscious about my legs, I have joined a gym with a swimming pool and golf course, and I wear shorts when ever the weather permits. I recently had treatment for thread veins, a procedure that was performed as an outpatient. David has given me back my confidence, bring on the summer.

I would highly recommend Mr Ratliff to anyone who's contemplating treatment for varicose veins. From the very first consultation Mr Ratliff put my mind at ease explaining the procedures, costs and choices available. Throughout my treatment I felt relaxed and confident knowing I was in such skillful, caring hands. The operation went as described, no pain and very little discomfort, with amazing results! The whole experience has been simple, quick, pleasant and most importantly 100% successful. Thank you to Mr Ratliff and all the team at Three Shires.

Another consultant diagnosed an inflamed gallbladder containing a 23mm stone. He provided a shortlist of excellent surgeons and I chose Mr Ratliff as it appeared that this was an operation he was completing on a very regular basis, and in which he and his team would be well practiced. At my first consultation Mr Ratliff was very clear about the surgical procedure he recommended, laparoscopic (keyhole) cholecystectomy, and outlined the risks and issues that I should consider. I found his manner very professional and friendly. The operation went to plan at the 3 Shires hospital, and was totally uneventful, as I had hoped. The staff and surgical team at the hospital were all kind and highly professional. I had a very rapid recovery and was out on a mountain bike ride a week later.

I was recommended to Mr. David Ratliff by another doctor who told me that he is the best vascular surgeon in the area. I suffered from protruding blue veins and red spider veins on my legs. I was extremely conscious of exposing my legs during the Summer months. I had previously tried laser and a form of sclerotherapy without much success. I thought nothing could be done until I had my first consultation with Mr. Ratliff. His treatment of microsclerotherapy has been highly successful and it has given me the confidence to show off my legs again. I am absolutely delighted with results. I highly recommend this treatment.

Mr Ratliff was recommended to me by another doctor to whom I had made an enquiry about cosmetic procedures on my legs. I had prominent blue veins and spider veins on my upper and lower legs. I didn't think anything could be done as my GP said that they were not varicose. I first had a consultation with Mr Ratliff and was delighted to hear that something could be done. The procedure of Microsclerotherapy was painless, quick and highly successful. I am so delighted that I can show off my legs again and wear skirts and bikinis during the Summer months with confidence. I had previously tried laser therapy which left me with burns and was not at all effective. I would highly recommend Mr Ratliff to anyone suffering with the same condition.

I had a Inguinal Hernia operation carried out by David and his team at Three Shires Northampton. It was performed by keyhole surgery, (no scares, amazing). I found David; efficient, direct & professional, answering my many questions, as this was my first ever operation. There was little pain afterwards & I have made a rapid recovery. I felt that I could call David and the team, any time, if I had wanted to. The extended team at Three Shires, all provided an excellent service, and worked very well with David Matthew Northampton

David is simply an exceptional surgeon who operated on me in 2012 after I was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer. From the first time I met David to yesterday when he carried out my regular four month review he retains the same characteristics that he had six years ago. He is clear, precise, skilled and attentive to every detail. David also has excellent communicative skills which puts you at ease from the moment you meet him. David is the consummate professional whom I would highly recommend. Barry.

I was recently referred to Mr Ratliff with an inguinal hernia. Mr Ratliff was welcoming and very clear about what the operation would entail, the best way to proceed and the recovery process. The operation was a success (in and out of the hospital in a day) and I was back to exercising in no time at all. I had my follow up appointment today and was subsequently discharged. Mission success and all in a matter of weeks. Highly recommended.

I had severe varicose veins in my right leg and developed a series of painful lumps. I consulted David Ratliff who gave me a thorough examination and scan and presented me with a set of options, ranging from 'do nothing' to either a half or full-leg Venefit procedure using radio-frequency ablation. He also clarified the possible outcomes of each course of action. I decided on the latter and was admitted to an overnight stay and non-invasive surgery under anaesthetic. His care and attention were first rate, as was the after-care and subsequent consultations. He is skilled, kind, understanding and attentive. He has given me a 'new leg' . The days of pain and discomfort are past.. I find it hard to describe the feeling of liberation. Thanks to David I am enjoying a 'new life'!

I highly recommend Mr Ratliff. His diagnosis, consultation and the surgery he carried out was excellent. Very good communication of what was expected and he set me at ease. I have had very pleasing results following years of quite serious, swollen and painful varicose veins. Lovely pins, now.

I had a double Inguinal Hernia repair on 10th October 2018 performed by David Ratliff. It was performed by keyhole surgery with small incisions and almost no scarring. There was little pain afterwards & I have made a rapid recovery. I'm now back to full strength with no discomfort. From start to finish Mr Ratliff's manner was caring, concerned & professional answering all my questions and treating me with the utmost respect. If you have an inguinal hernia or even a double one then David Ratliff is the man to make it better. Thank you.

I was referred to David Ratliff by my G.P after an Ultra Sound identified that I had multiple gall stones. During my initial consultation David organised for me to have an MRI scan and clearly set out the pros and cons of having my gall bladder removed. No contest as I was in a lot of discomfort - an appointment was made for the operation. The day arrived and I was very relaxed because I had confidence that I was in "safe hands". David was very professional and gave clear and precise advice in a kind and caring manner throughout. I am extremely grateful to David and his team at Three Shires Hospital for their care and support. Highly recommended.

David Ratliff was personally recommended to me for my hernia. Upon consultation, David identified the probability that in fact, I may have a double hernia and if so, both should be operated upon simultaneously, rather than a near future second surgery ! I initially attended David upon my condition with some trepidation, but his perception and care was immediate and warmly demonstrated, putting me at complete ease and comfort. David's demeanor, professionalism, attention to detail and support was evident throughout. These qualities and his clear leadership was equally demonstrated throughout his support staff in administration, theatre and nursing. In my first ever surgery, I am extremely grateful to David and his team. I cannot recommend David and Three Shires Hospital highly enough.
