Farooq Rahman: Consultant Gastroenterologist in London
Dr Farooq Rahman is a Consultant Gastroenterologist at University College Hospital and an Honorary Associate Professor at University College London. A luminal gastroenterologist with extensive experience in general gastroenterology and hepatology, he is a member of GI Doctors and provides private treatment for gastrointestinal conditions at clinics in London’s Harley Street District and at Parkside Hospital in Wimbledon.

Training and experience
Dr Rahman undertook his basic medical training at The Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine in London. He then completed his gastroenterology specialist training on the prestigious North East London rotation. He was awarded his PhD by University College London (UCL) for his research into the immunopathogenesis of inflammatory bowel disease.

Dr Rahman is a luminal gastroenterologist specialising in conditions that affect the lining of the gastrointestinal tract such as inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis), peptic ulcers and coeliac disease. His subspecialty interests include clinical nutrition and intestinal failure, and endoscopy (gastroscopy, colonoscopy and polypectomy). He also sees patients with irritable bowel syndrome, bile acid malabsorption and pelvic radiation disease, as well as consulting on a wide range of general gastrointestinal symptoms such as dyspepsia, acid reflux, diarrhoea, constipation, abdominal pain, bloating, anaemia and food intolerances.
Dr Rahman is actively involved in undergraduate/postgraduate teaching and research at UCLH/UCL and speaks regularly at national and international meetings. His research interests include the inflammatory bowel diseases (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis) and have resulted in many high impact peer-reviewed publications in leading scientific journals.
