Vulvectomy (Radical)

Summary

Vulvectomy (Radical)

This operation is, as the name suggests, major radical surgery and involves removing the entire vulva, including the inner and outer labia and the clitoris. The lymph nodes are also removed from one or both sides of the groin. Reconstruction is usually performed immediately following the vulvectomy. The recovery period is lengthy and emotional support is usually offered.
