Varicose vein ablation
The procedure performed for varicose vein ablation is known as an endothermal ablation. There are two main types of endothermal ablation. One is called radiofrequency ablation and the other endovenous laser treatment. Radiofrequency ablation involves using energy from high-frequency radio waves, or in endovenous laser treatment lasers are used to seal the affected veins. Both procedures are performed under local anaesthetic by a vascular or general surgeon.
