Surgical sperm retrieval (PESA; TESA; MESA)

Surgical sperm retrieval is a method used for males with azoospermia and other fertility problems. Various techniques are available for sperm retrieval. Percutaneous epididymal sperm aspiration (PESA) is used in patients with obstructive azoospermia. Microsurgical epididymal sperm aspiration (MESA) is used to aspirate sperms from epididymal ducts through a needle. Testicular sperm aspiration (TESA) is similar to an aspiration cytology procedure.
