Motor neurone disease is a rare condition in which areas of the nervous system are damaged, leading to progressive weakness and muscle wasting. The cause of motor neurone disease is unknown but race, diet and lifestyle could increase the risk. People that are affected by this condition eventually develop a weak grip, inability to lift objects, foot drop, slurred speech and noticeable dragging of the lower limbs.
