Hypothyroidism

Hypothyroidism is an endocrine condition where the thyroid gland is no longer producing sufficient thyroid hormone for the body's metabolism to function efficiently. There are many reasons why the thyroid can become underactive. The condition is more prevalent in women than men and its onset is mostly found in women over the age of 40. Some of the symptoms are tiredness, increase in weight, sensitivity to cold, dry skin and hair, irritability and depression.
