Hypopituitarism is a condition wherein there is inactivity of the pituitary glands. This results in the inability of the gland to produce hormones. The symptoms of hypopituitarism may depend on the degree of inactivity. Causes could be tumours along the area, tumours located outside the area, sarcoidosis, meningitis, encephalitis and head injuries. This condition is incurable and lifelong treatment will be required.
