Huntington's disease is a neurological, genetic illness that affects the brain. The disease affects the nerve cells which eventually deteriorate and reduce their ability to function. The person affected with Huntington's disease exhibits unusual behaviour such as mood swings, personality changes and poor judgment. Although the illness is hereditary there is a small percentage of patients that have no family history of Huntington's disease.
