Giardiasis
Giardiasis is an intestinal infection caused by the parasite Giardia intestinalis. Apart from passing watery stools, there is also abdominal cramping, gas formation and flatulence. Humans become infected with the Giardia parasite by drinking contaminated water and by direct contact with an infected person. Treatments include fluid replacement to reduce dehydration and taking anti-parasitic drugs to kill the Giardia parasite.
