Fibromyalgia causes vague but widespread pain in the body. It is thought to be due to an imbalance in chemicals in the central nervous system. Aside from pain that is mostly along the neck and the back, there is also tiredness, headaches, the occurrence of irritable bowel syndrome, painful menses, depression and chronic fatigue syndrome. Treatment may include pain medications, antidepressants, heat treatments, physiotherapy and joining support groups to help reduce stress and depression.
