Epiglottitis (child)

Epiglottitis (child)

Epiglottitis in children is the inflammation of the epiglottis, usually due to an infection. Symptoms are sore throat, difficulty in breathing, difficulty in swallowing, weakness and lack of appetite. This condition is serious as it restricts air flow to the lungs and therefore a child needs immediate medical attention. Clearing the airways and facilitating normal breathing, as well as antibiotics will reduce the infection.
