Diverticular disease
Diverticular disease is a wide variety of diseases that affects the colon, especially the large intestine. In diverticulitis, bulges appear on the surface lining of the large intestine which become irritated and inflamed as digested food passes through the area. There is pain, gas formation and stomach upset. Treatment includes the use of pain killers as well as antibiotics to reduce infection.
