A chest x-ray is a diagnostic procedure to visualize the lungs, the shape of the heart and the bones and joints. An x-ray is recommended by a physician to check for lung disease, the effectiveness of a specific treatment or to rule out potential diseases. Chest x-rays are painless, however it should be limited to one procedure for a certain number of months to reduce exposure to radiation.
