Chemotherapy is the treatment of choice for cancer. Chemotherapy is a combination of highly charged chemicals which are intended to kill off the cancerous cells. The aim to stop the cancerous cells multiplying and spreading and to reduce the risk of a recurrence. Chemotherapy is now administered intravenously in hospital setting on a day patient basis. There are a number of side-effects, some debilitating, and these depend on the type and strength of drugs used in the combination of chemical drugs chosen by the oncologist.
