Ayurvedic medicine is a system of traditional medicine with connections to Hinduism, is native to the Indian subcontinent, and is a form of alternative medicine. Ayurvedic doctors regard physical and mental existence as well as personality as one unit, each element having the capacity to influence the other. It has 8 ways of diagnosis: Nadi (Pulse), Mootra (Urine), Mala (Stool), Jihva (Tongue), Shabda (Speech), Sparsha (Touch), Druk (Vision), Aakruti (Appearance). Ayurveda stresses the use of plant-based medicines and treatments, such as those derived from roots, leaves, fruits, barks and seeds. Some animal products may also be used like milk, fats, bones, and gallstones. Minerals, including sulphur, arsenic, lead, copper sulfate and gold are also consumed as prescribed.
