Assisted hatching (AH)

Assisted hatching (AH)

Assisted hatching is a laboratory procedure that assists the embryo to hatch by creating a small hole on the shell or making the shell thinner with the use of lasers. A protein surrounds the embryo that helps regulate fertilization by allowing only one sperm to fertilize the embryo. Assisted hatching helps the sperm easily fertilize the egg as it assists the embryo shed its coat. This procedure increases the success of IVF treatments.
