According to eating disorder charity Beat, more than 725,000 people in the UK are affected by an eating disorder. The NHS say there’s a one in 30 to one in 50 chance of a person developing binge eating disorder at some point in their lifetime.

‘Secret eating is one of the most common conditions I see,’ says Psychologist Dr Joanna Silver, Lead Eating Disorder Therapist at Nightingale Hospital.

NICE follow a medical model and primarily use physical symptoms to form diagnosis – this means that women who are perhaps within a ‘normal’ weight range are not treated appropriately.

Tips for Binge Eaters:

  1. Know your triggers
  2. Eat regularly
  3. See all food as good
  4. Take away the emotion
