Robert Thonet is a private gynaecologist in London and Wimbledon. He also undertakes diagnostic laparoscopy, hysteroscopy and other minor surgical procedures as well as major surgery such as hysterectomy, myomectomy and prolapse repairs.

Private gynaecologist consultations in London and Surrey

Every consultation takes place personally with Robert Thonet. You may be referred for a consultation by your doctor (GP) or another consultant, but this is not always necessary – you can book an appointment directly.

After all consultations, Mr Thonet will write to your GP – unless you specify otherwise – with a copy of the letter sent to you, explaining the outcome of the consultation. One of those outcomes may well be the need for treatment.

Gynaecological problems: treatment and investigations

After most consultations, some form of investigation (test) will be needed to determine treatment. These investigations often involve hormone tests (at a particular time of the menstrual cycle) and an ultrasound scan, normally performed shortly after a period.

All operative procedures are performed by Mr Thonet himself, and take place either in his Outpatient Clinic or after admission to one of the private hospitals where Mr Thonet operates.

Outpatient clinic procedures

The following investigations or treatments can usually be undertaken at the outpatient clinic:

Appointment and clinic times for private gynaecologist consultations

Most often, patients make an appointment after an initial discussion with their GP, who will have given appropriate advice. You can, if you wish, make an appointment direct to see Mr Thonet.

If you have a medical insurance policy, please ensure, if possible, that you have pre-authorisation from your insurer before making an appointment. Typically, an initial appointment will take 30 minutes, with follow-up consultations taking 15 minutes.

For your convenience, you can make an appointment to see Mr Thonet at either hospital and follow-up appointments do not need to be taken at the same hospital as previous consultations.  Referral letters should be addressed to Mr RGN Thonet, Consultant Gynaecologist.
