A seminar dedicated to medical tourism has highlighted the main benefits experienced by patients choosing to purchase medical treatment in Thailand.
Held on the Phuket campus of the Prince of Songkhla University, around 50 delegates gathered last week to boost interest in the medical tourism industry from potential stakeholders.
Many UK patients seek treatment abroad and Thailand has become one of the most popular destinations.
Yearayong Chairut, assistant executive director for the product promotion division of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, claimed that Thailand has three major advantages over many of its competitors, according to www.Thaisnews.com.
She noted that Thailand benefits from specialists of a particularly high quality, cheaper prices than many other countries, and the attraction of next-day appointments as opposed to lengthy waiting lists.
Private dentistry and cosmetic surgery are the two main types of treatment sought by patients, according to Dr Kongkiat Kespechara, director of Bangkok Hospital Phuket.
Another attraction is of course the beautiful weather and breathtaking scenery, all of which can be experienced for as little as £400 per return flight from the UK.
