Sexual health helpline launched for gay men

The Terrence Higgins Trust (THT) has launched a new helpline to help improve the sexual health of London's gay male community.

The London Gay Men's Sexual Health Helpline has been set up to provide information on sexually transmitted infections, HIV and condom use and will be available from 10:00 to 22:00GMT Monday to Friday, and from 12:00 to 18:00GMT Saturday and Sunday on 0845 231 0600.

The trust has also set up a new face-to-face service so that people can talk with an advisor in person at THT's central office in King's Cross.

Willie Turnbull, head of THT Direct, said that the trust is looking forward to increasing its support provision.

Mr Turnbull said: "THT Direct already provides a huge range of information and support to people who need it.

"The service goes from providing useful information, to being a lifeline for people who feel they have no where else to turn."

THT Direct currently helps around 550 people a month.
