Aviva has cut by a third its use of doctor’s reports on applications as it seeks to speed up quotations.
It now collects GP reports on just 10% of cases compared with 16% a year ago and has increased the number of nurse tele-interviews from 300 a month to 2000 a month.
Aviva ‘s Richard Verdin says ‘Applications requiring a GP report can take 20 days to process compared with just eight days when the applicant is interviewed by a nurse. We are encouraging our underwriters to make more decisions without the need for them.
