Salisbury on top for cosmetic surgeons

Salisbury has more cosmetic surgeons per head of population than any other British city, it has been revealed.

A poll of cosmetic surgery provision shows the city to have 13.1 surgeons per 100,000 people, who cater primarily for well-off ladies of leisure.

The figures, given to the Daily Telegraph by the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (Baaps), place Cambridge and Chester in second and third place with 13 and 12.7 surgeons per 100,000 people respectively.

Fourth place Gloucester has 12.2 surgeons per 100,000 members of the public and cosmetic surgery specialist James McDiarmid, who works at the local Capio Winfield Hospital, said that there has been a year on year increase in the number of people opting for surgery.

"Gloucester and Cheltenham are both relatively affluent areas where people are choosing to indulge in cosmetic surgery more and more," he told the Gloucestershire Echo.

"Cosmetic breast surgery is still my number one but this is closely followed by patients wanting facial rejuvenation such as face lifts or brow lifts," he revealed.
