The IHAS Register of Injectable Cosmetic Providers was formally launched to the industry on 13 April 2010. As the number of registered, quality-marked providers builds up, so preparations are underway for the start of the major public awareness campaign in July.
The Quality Assurance Mark will bring clear commercial advantage to those who display it. With its vigorous screening process, the IHAS Register of Injectable Cosmetic Providers will assure the public of the quality of providers displaying the quality mark. Successful providers will be enrolled on the web-based Register and, within 10 days of applying, will be available for the public to see. Most of the main providers in the UK will complete registration shortly, including industry leaders The Harley Medical Group, Transform and Sk:n.
In July 2010 a major public awareness campaign and a publicity drive will raise the profile of the scheme amongst consumers. It will encourage any potential patient to select their practitioner only from those that are registered with the scheme.
Already the quality assurance logo is becoming better known in the industry and. specialist health consumer communications agency, RPA, has been retained to run the campaign to raise awareness of it amongst the public.
A large number of applications for the Quality Mark are already being processed and the IHAS urges all of those who provide injectable cosmetic treatments to join the register if they are eligible, well in advance of the July consumer launch.
Sally Taber advises those providers who have not yet made a move to “check-out the website today, so that you are sure of being included on it when it is launched to consumers in July”.
The registration scheme, and the associated standards and training required of registered providers, was created at the request of the Department of Health which has provided funding to support it development. All funds generated will be reinvested into the continual management and updating of the register.
