An expert has insisted that Brits have no real reason to eat junk food, with a wide range of alternatives available which are both relatively easy to prepare and priced reasonably.
Hermie Hogg - founder of Hermieopathy and a health and wellbeing consultant - stressed the importance of eating well to prevent obesity and illness, urging people to try something different instead of foods high in salt and saturated fat.
"Diet is very important all of the time. There is no excuse to have a bad diet," she explained. "It takes five minutes to make yourself a wholemeal sandwich with a piece of lettuce, or a couple of tomatoes."
Ms Hogg also suggested that timing can be crucial when it comes to meals and recommended eating straight after work, rather than leaving it until shortly before bedtime.
Last week, a study conducted by French cheese specialist President found 75 per cent of participants admitted to eating without particularly enjoying or even tasting their food.
