MediSpa to open more UK clinics

A group of cosmetic surgery clinics is due to expand its network across the UK, after raising £3 million for the proposed venture.

The MediSpa Clinic, which is known to be used by footballers' wives-to-be Alex Curran and Coleen McLoughlin, supermodel Jodie Kidd and ex-Atomic Kitten Kerry Katona, already operates at clinics in Harley Street and Adlington, Cheshire and has a joint venture in Newcastle.

In addition, it has revealed plans for a major expansion, including at least two new clinics by March 2007 and another six by the end of 2008, the Times reports.

The MediSpa Clinic offers a variety of beauty services, including a wide range of cosmetic surgery procedures, and is one of the few clinics in the UK to offer Twilight surgery.

This procedure allows nervous patients to undergo cosmetic surgery without the need for a general anaesthetic. Patients are sedated but awake throughout the operation and usually do not even require an overnight stay.

Market research group Mintel predicts that the British cosmetic industry will be worth more than £1 billion by 2010 – almost double its current value.
