With the big holiday rush following the end of the school summer term, AA Insurance has not only slashed premiums for online customers but is offering free cover for kids, too.
The AA has cut premiums by up to 22 per cent for some cover and allows up to four children aged up to 17 to travel free with an insured adult on a single trip policy.
The kids go free deal will benefit single parents who might find it hard enough to afford a holiday, without having to buy a family policy that includes two adults.
Christian Young, director of AA Travel Insurance, says, “Buying travel insurance should be simple, transparent and offer good value and that is what we are aiming to do. I am concerned that people may just not bother with cover at all and rely on the EHIC reciprocal medical certificate that is free from post offices - but while you should take that remember it gives only basic protection and only in Europe
While buying insurance from a travel agent or off the supermarket shelf is quick and easy, it is vital that you tell them and they tell the insurer about any medical treatment you have had or pre-existing conditions such as angina, asthma or diabetes.
