Holloway Friendly paid 96.8% of income protection claims

Holloway Friendly paid 96.8% of all the income protection claims it received during 2007.

The friendly society figure includes all claims received for whatever reason. Other providers may not record certain claims if, for example, they are made before the end of the deferred period.

The 3.2% of claims that were not paid were due to medical non-disclosure and changes to the policyholder's circumstances such as being in retirement or attempting to claim during a deferment period.

Musculoskeletal and back problems accounted for over 35% of the claims made, followed by stress at 15%.

Few insurers will publish claims figures - fearing they will look bad compared to this organisation.
