General Healthcare Group acquires City Medical

General Healthcare Group has acquired London-based City Medical, a private facility in the heart of London that will provide consultant-led outpatient and private GP services.

City Medical will offer a number of specialty clinics, including cardiology, general surgery, gynaecology, neurosurgery, spinal surgery and urology.

In addition, the facility will provide health screening and a travel clinic, as well as pre-employment medical assessments.

Located near to Liverpool Street station, patients will be able to pay an annual membership fee entitling them to sight tests, health screens and private GP appointments.

Adrian Fawcett, chief executive of General Healthcare Group, welcomed the facility to BMI Healthcare, which is the group's acute private hospital division.

He said: "City Medical will provide high quality primary care in the city with direct access to specialists practicing at our hospitals, where BMI Healthcare's commitment to clinical best practice has led to more personalised, proactive and preventative care for patients."

Mr Fawcett added that the facility will become an "essential service" for patients living or working in the City.

BMI Healthcare is the largest independent provider of private healthcare in the UK, operating nearly 60 hospitals across the nation.
