Equity launches insureblue for male cancer sufferers

Equity Insurance Group has extended its personal lines range with the launch of insureblue, a travel insurance product aimed at men with prostate and testicular cancers.

The move follows the introduction last autumn of insurepink, a travel policy for women who have breast cancer.

Insureblue is aimed at the 55,000 men diagnosed with prostate and testicular cancer each year and the cost reflects the actual, rather than the perceived risk of travelling with male cancers.

Individual circumstances are taken into account when calculating a premium and intrusive and insensitive questions about an applicant’s medical history are avoided.

The insurer says it will continue to expand its range of travel cover for those with pre-existing medical conditions.

Equity will also be making a donation to the Everyman Campaign, which funds research into the causes and cures of prostate and testicular cancers, for every insureblue policy sold.

Everyman was established in 1997 by The Institute of Cancer Research and operates the only centre in Europe dedicated to research into male cancers.
