Cosmetic dentistry "has a lot of growth potential"

Cosmetic dentistry is a fast-growing sector right now in the UK and could see even more growth in the future, according to a private dentist.

Dr Anoop Maini, who owns a private practice in west London, claimed that this area of dentistry is linked to the plastic surgery industry, both of which are seeing a lot of growth at the moment.

He has noticed that the most popular treatments at this point in time are veneers, teeth whitening, the removal of amalgams and orthodontic treatment.

"Compared to other countries, this market is actually quite far behind so there is a lot of growth potential," he added.

Mr Maini, who is a member of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (BACD), commented that people who lost their jobs in London are now finding the time to sort out any problems with their teeth, which he pointed out will probably help them in interviews for future jobs.

Research by the BACD showed that 32 per cent of the country are worried about the way their teeth look.
