International health insurer Allianz Worldwide Care has entered into a partnership with US-based InRoomMD.
All new and renewing groups with employees who are either based in or travelling within the US will automatically have access to a range of InRoomMD services at no additional cost.
Many people visit Hospital Emergency Rooms simply because they can’t access their normal GP. They may be travelling (far away from their normal GP) or need medical assistance outside of their GP’s normal working hours. However going to an Emergency Room for non-emergency care can be costly as well as inconvenient, particularly in the US. For groups insured with Allianz Worldwide Care, employee access to InRoomMD means that the number of non-essential, costly visits to Emergency Rooms are significantly reduced, helping to contain claims-related expenses. For insured members, InRoomMD offers immediate access to a qualified physician, at night, during weekends or when travelling, avoiding any unnecessary trips to a hospital Emergency Room as well as the possibility of long waiting times. For business travellers in particular, who have meetings scheduled and very little available time, prompt and convenient access to medical care is a key benefit.
InRoomMD services are only available in the US, for medical care that is required outside of normal working hours and/or when travelling. These services are supported in both English and Spanish. InRoomMD healthcare services include phone consultations, in-room physician visits, expedited access to emergency care, prescription replacements, durable medical supplies such as oxygen and wheelchairs, as well as specialist referrals and the co-ordination of emergency dental care and in-house chiropractic care.
