General Healthcare Group (GHG), whose primary business is the UK’s largest private hospital group BMI Healthcare, has agreed to acquire a stake in the London-based Phoenix Hospital Group. By doing so, GHG will become responsible for Phoenix’s Central London businesses – 9 Harley Street and the new Weymouth Hospital in Weymouth Street.
Phoenix’s Consulting and Diagnostic Centre at 9 Harley Street has eight consulting rooms, four treatment rooms and a complete imaging suite with MRI, CT, Ultrasound and plain X-ray capabilities. Phoenix’s second facility, The Weymouth Hospital has 17 beds and four theatres. It is currently under construction, and is set to open in the first quarter of 2010. The Weymouth will be the first purpose-built private hospital in Central London since The London Bridge Hospital opened in 1985.
General Healthcare Group CEO Adrian Fawcett said: “We are delighted to partner with Phoenix Hospital Group. The Group brings a very unique and modern approach to providing private hospital care in Central London. We look forward to working closely with Phoenix’s expert specialists and staff in delivering innovative independent healthcare services and treatments, to people seeking a most individualised patient experience, complementing the access to BMI hospitals we already have across London and the South East.”
Phoenix Co-Founder and Consultant Anaesthetist Dr Aubrey Bristow said: “This exciting strategic partnership with the UK's leading healthcare provider will provide us with management skills and other support to cement our position as a bespoke healthcare provider in Central London. It will bring major advantages to our patients and consultants whilst retaining our reputation of providing the highest standards of innovative care in luxurious surroundings.”
