Training and experience

Professor Mo Imam holds multiple degrees, including a master’s degree in orthopaedics with distinction and a PhD in musculoskeletal sciences. His thesis was centred around the healing of rotator cuff tears and how to optimise the repairing process. From there, he completed a range of specialist and exclusive fellowships throughout Europe and the United States. These fellowships covered the latest techniques and technologies when it comes to treating upper limb trauma, such as the latest 3D scanning, bespoke treatments, minimally invasive surgery and more. He is now a professor at the University of East London, where he conducts pioneering research about artificial intelligence and machine learning within clinical applications. Mo Imam has multiple prestigious accolades to his name due to his extraordinary work in the field, these awards include the ISAKOS (International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports medicine) Upper Extremity Award and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons international scholar Award. Professor Mo Imam’s knowledge and application when it comes to upper limb diagnosis and treatment is substantiated by an extensive background of experience.

Research interests

As a professor, Mo Imam contributes massively to the world of upper limb treatments. This research provides in-depth analysis about orthobiologics, sports injuries and upper limb reconstruction. He edited a reference book on the uses of stem cells in orthopedics. He also co-founded the Smart Health Unit at the University of East London and has credited with over a hundred publications, ranging from book chapters to seminal papers.
