Fiona MacGregor

Fiona MacGregor is a Consultant ENT Surgeon based in Glasgow.  She has a particular interest in throat and voice disorders, neck lumps and head and neck cancer. She treats a wide range of general ENT problems including sore throat (including tonsillitis) and swallowing problems.

Fiona graduated from Edinburgh Medical School in 1986 and undertook her initial surgical training in Edinburgh and Glasgow. She subsequently trained in otolaryngology at the Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London. She also worked at the Middlesex and Hammersmith Hospitals before returning to Glasgow and taking up a consultant post at Gartnavel General Hospital and the Royal Hospital for Sick Children Yorkhill in 1997.  In 2015 she became a full-time adult ENT Surgeon at the new Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow.

She is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Glasgow University and a Royal College of Surgeons Examiner for the Intercollegiate Specialty Board in Otorhinolaryngology. She is a past Chairman of ENT Scotland and sits on ENT-UK council. She is a member of the Royal Society of Medicine, British Laryngological Association, British Voice Association and ENT UK.

Clinical interests

Fiona‚Äôs  has an interest in throat and voice problems and head and neck lumps including cancers and thyroid swellings. She runs a voice clinic in her NHS practice, and works with many professional voice users including singers, actors and teachers.

Research interests

Fiona MacGregor has published a number of book chapters and journal articles and lectured widely on her particular interests of paediatric ENT, voice disorders and head and neck cancer. She teaches on a number of national courses and has lectured at The British Academic Conference in Otolaryngology, The Royal Society of Medicine and the British Paediatric Otolaryngology Course.
