Donald Adam: Varicose vein specialist in Birmingham
Mr Donald Adam is a Birmingham-based Consultant Vascular & Endovascular Surgeon specialising in walk-in-walk-out procedures for varicose veins and leg ulcers. A pioneer in keyhole vascular treatments, he uses minimally invasive endovascular techniques such as ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy and radiofrequency ablation. He is available for private consultation at Premier Veins in Edgbaston and at private hospitals in Solihull, Sutton Coldfield and Droitwich.
Training and experience
Mr Donald Adam qualified in medicine from the University of Edinburgh in 1990 and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1995. He was awarded an MD for his research into blood coagulation in aortic aneurysm repair at the University of Edinburgh.
Donald undertook his extensive training in vascular and endovascular surgery in Edinburgh, Leicester and Adelaide, Australia. He was appointed as Consultant Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon at Heart of England Hospitals in Birmingham in 2004.
Donald is experienced in the full range of treatment options for arterial and venous disease. His specialisms include endovascular aortic aneurysm repair and keyhole treatment of varicose veins and leg ulcers on a walk-in-walk-out basis.

Donald provides individually tailored walk-in-walk-out treatment for varicose veins, thread veins and leg ulcers using minimally invasive endovascular procedures:
- Radiofrequency ablation (RFA)
- Ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy (UGFS)
Consultation
Donald is available for private consultation at Premier Veins in Edgbaston, Central Birmingham. Appointments at private hospitals in Solihull, Sutton Coldfield and Droitwich are also available by arrangement.
Stringent Covid-19 safety measures are in place in all Premier Vein clinics and the walk-in-walk-out procedures offered are well suited to Covid-19 working practice, making the risk of contamination low. However, Donald is able to offer remote consultations by telephone or video if preferred.

Fees
An initial consultation with Donald costs £249 which is refunded from the vein treatment plan fee. At this appointment he will:
- Take an in-depth look at the clinical history of the problem
- Perform a clinical examination
- Carry out any non-invasive investigation, including a duplex ultrasound scan, if necessary
- Discuss treatment options and recommend next steps
- Take the time to address any issues or concerns and be available for further discussion if needed
Based on this consultation, Donald will tailor a personalised treatment plan based on the price list below. Consultation and treatment can take place on the same day and procedure packages are inclusive of compression stockings and a follow-up appointment.
