Tissue Viability (Wound Care) Service at Ashtead Hospital

Ella Malaescu, Tissue Viability Clinical Nurse SpecialistWednesday 27 January 2016

We are pleased to inform you that Ashtead Hospital is now running a Tissue Viability/Wound Care Service.

We will be working in partnership with our vascular and plastic surgeons and other specialities to treat a wide variety of acute and chronic wounds such as: complex surgical wounds, leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, skin tears etc, for inpatients as well as outpatients.

At Ashtead Hospital we can offer the latest treatments for complex, hard to heal wounds, for example: VAC (vacuum assisted closure) therapy/NWPT, larvae therapy, compression therapy, etc.

Sister Ella Malaescu, who is the lead nurse for this service said: “We are implementing a good communication system with local GP practices and the District Nursing services with regular updates on patients’ progress in order to secure continuity of care and patients’ satisfaction."

Private patients can either be referred via their GP or alternatively can self refer to this service. To find out more, please call Ella Malaescu on 01372 221489.
