Raising Money For Macmillan Cancer Support

Thursday 28 January 2016

Over the previous year the staff at North Downs have been raising funds, through a number of events for the new Macmillan Cancer Support Unit at East Surrey Hospital.

Throughout the East Surrey and West Sussex area the number of people living with or through cancer is set to double over the next fifteen years. With the opening of the new support centre this means that those affected do not need to go it alone.

The support centre offers both cancer sufferers and their families a place away from wards and busy patient waiting areas to gain the information and emotional support they need. The centre has beautifully furnished therapy rooms offering complimentary therapies and nutritional advice delivered by local volunteers.

General Manager of North Downs Hospital, Monica Clarke and Sales and Marketing Manager, Nicola Morgan were very proud to be invited along to the opening of the centre and present a cheque for £1732.99 to Macmillan Fundraising Manager, Kate Macauley and the Support Centre Manager, Shelagh Sheldrick.

The centre at East Surrey Hospital is the first dedicated centre of its kind in the local area, which will be used use by thousands of families in the local community. We very much look forward to working alongside the support centre in promoting their services to our patients, Consultants and staff.
