Found Veincentre via Google. Their website is well laid out and their pricing is clear and appeared good value compared to others. They also offered the convenience of a one visit consultation and treatment which was ideal as my nearest clinic is a couple of hours away.



I had to send them photos of my legs to confirm it was something they could do in a day visit. All communications were very prompt and clear and made the process very straightforward.



I visited them in Manchester and was treated by Dr Krishnan. Receptionist was lovely and had a nice chat. In the treatment room my legs were scanned and they confirmed both had issues and could treat both on the day. I was a little wary as my Mum had a varicose vein op over 25 hrs ago and had major complications but they reassured me and I underwent the treatment.



Apart from a few needle injections I didn’t feel anything at all. It took about 40 mins for both legs to be treated. I had to wear the support stockings for a week afterwards. As expected I felt some uncomfortable pain after about day 5 for another 10 days and took Ibuprofen which numbed it. It never restricted me in any way though. After 8 weeks I returned for my follow up and just needed one further injection. I would say my veins are about 95% gone with the latter said to take a couple of months more. The only niggle was my follow up apartment was cancelled at about 10 days notice and I had to rearrange hotel and travel plans which was a bit of a pain.



Overall though I’m very pleased. The overall professionalism was very good and my fears were allayed with what was such a straightforward and thankfully painless procedure. I would recommend Veincentre to anyone needing varicose vein treatment.

Having suffered with extensive varicose veins for many years, I decided to try Veincentre to see if they could treat them.

From start to finish I was kept fully informed as to what was to happen both during and the outcome of the treatment.

I was treated by Dr Ananth Krishnan who was ably supported by Helen Burndred. Throughout the treatment I was impressed by their expertise and commitment to ensuring that the treatment was successful. This supported by a relaxed atmosphere during the treatment led to a very satisfying experience.

Since the original treatment in June and follow up in August, my veins have significantly reduced with some having disappeared altogether. I was informed that this reduction/disappearance will continue over the coming months.

Having read far too much online about the potential negatives I was somewhat nervous arriving for the procedure. However every aspect from booking in, initial assessment, to the procedure itself and aftercare were excellent . The actual EVLA was totally painless and carried out expertly by Dominic in a relaxing, assuring environment. I felt in safe hands and over the initial few days I noticed an almost immediate improvement in my condition.

One month later and I am delighted with the results both pain relief and appearance wise. Definitely value for money

Had problems with VV and decided to do something about it . Did research on clinics in Manchester area and choose Veincentre. I have no experience of other clinics but this one was superb. Dr Dodds is not only good he is obviously a true expert with a nice wry sense of humour : everything was in relaxed mode which helps the nerves significantly !!

The nurse (Kim) was also excellent .A couple of not-too-sharp pricks - couldn`t believe it when Dr Dodds said that that is the end- no real pain as the doctor was sooooo careful. Very highly recommended.

I had a small varicose vein on my leg since I was 16 I went to the nhs to have it removed but was made to feel uncomfortable so I didn’t return. As the years passed the vein got bigger to the point of being visible through my leggings knocking my confidence more & more. I eventually plucked up the courage to come to the vein centre & I’m so glad I did! I’m a very anxious person but Dr krishnan made me feel totally at ease through the whole EVLA procedure & explained everything he was doing during the operation. Both Helen & Liz were fabulous! & I was surprised at how quick & painfree the whole procedure was. Although there was quite a lot of swelling The results were visible after the first week! Just been to have my second lot of schlerotherapy & cannot wait to see the end result after all the bruising has settled down. Thanks to everyone at the vein centre for being so welcoming & reassuring. I Only wish I would of done it sooner!

They were prompt and efficient.

Being private I thought the staff would be a little stuffy.

The time came to get rid of all my little thread veins, so this time i went to the stoke on trent vein centre, was a really easy drive from Leicester, the clinic was lovely and easy parking. I can fully recommend the vein centre clinic in Manchester, the service has been excellent.

I had the EVLA treatment in November and Dr Krishnan was very attentive with my concerns and fully explained the procedures & possible results. He and Stephanie made the whole experience not at all daunting and answered all my questions nothing was evasive even the pricing was very clear, this was one of the reasons I chose to have my procedure done with this clinic.

After my EVLA treatment in November ( I had a mild discomfort a few days later but this was mainly due to a tight feeling and a little sensitivity it was manageable) I waited until the next February to have my follow up, where I did require some additional foam sclerotherapy this was my choice to wait till February, I wanted to make sure everything had settled down and meeting Dr Krishnan & Stephanie again was like catching up with old friends again.

It’s been just over a week now after my last treatment and I am over the moon with the results so far, I do have a little bit of staining on my lower legs which was explained to me that this could happen but it’s NOTHING compared to having the unsightly knobbly veins I did have!!

and im sure a little fake tan can fix.

Overall the experience from the receptionist, Stephanie and Dr Krishnan and my results have been very positive and enjoyable.

I would definitely recommend the Manchester Vein Centre and wish I had had the procedure done years ago.....

I was very impressed with the entire process of having Evlt done on both legs. I’m a local GP and thought the approach, information given, communication and surgical skills were all superb! The staff made me feel very relaxed and I got very good explanations of what was happening. It wasn’t particularly painful either and 6 months on the results are well worth it. I still have old thread veins which can be treated at a later date, but the big varicosities have gone and my symptoms of pain and swelling have virtually vanished. This treatment was very worthwhile. It’s just so unfortunate that it is not available on the NHS despite being the gold standard treatment, but in my view it has been worth every penny. I’m glad I went with this clinic - they are excellent clinicians

I am very pleased with the result of my treatment. My legs look and feel healthier, and are no longer as heavy and tired at night. It is perhaps only now that I appreciate the discomfort my varicose veins have given me over the years, and I am pleased they are now sorted.

The information provided in the run up to and after the treatment was accurate, meaning my expectations were met. Whilst there was some discomfort during and after treatment, this was in line with what I had been told. I was able to continue with moderate exercise the day after treatment and stepped this up within a week.

Overall a very satisfactory outcome.

Very satisfied with the result of my treatment. The appointment was easy to arrange, the clinic well-located and the staff professional, efficient and friendly. There is some discomfort during the procedure, and swelling for a couple of weeks after, but this was clearly explained and not unexpected. It has taken a few months for the distended vein to settle, but again, I was informed that this would be the case. I am very happy with the end result and would recommend others to have this done.
The pricing is straightforward but my only slight niggle would be that I was one of the small minority that didn't need further injections at my follow-up appointment, yet had to pay the same fee for this.

I researched lots of options for my varicose vien treatment, each time i kept going back to the vien centre, they were the most helpful and their reputation was good! I went to manchester, train journeys were easy and we stayed in a hotel 2 mins walk away from the clinic. Clinic was lovely as was jackie the receptionist, Dr West and nurse Helen, they made me feel at home and at ease! My treatment went well and i'm fully satisfied and delighted with the results! No more pain, night cramps and big lumps on my legs, my legs will now keep improving and i look forward to my holiday in june!!!! Can't thank Dr West & Helen enough, worth every penny!!!! Wish i'd of done it years ago!

I have had various treatments over a number of years for my varicose veins and none have had as good an outcome as at Veincentre. The only reason that I have given 4 rather than 5 for the outcome is that I will be going back for further micro sclerotherapy to clear up all the thread veins therefore I do not yet know what the final result will be. The treatments were non invasive, painless and there was no downtime.

It's early days and I still have a visable swelling. However this is significantly reduced compared to how my leg looked before the process. I have been assured that this swelling will completely disappear within a few months and I have every confidence in the team that this will be the case. In the event that it does not, I know the staff at vein centre will be as helpful and as professional as ever in getting it sorted. Cannot recommend highly enough.

I would certainly recommend Dr West and his team to anyone suffering wit unsightly varicose veins. After suffering for 20 + years with varicose and spider veins in both legs following botch NHS surgery in my 20's I finally plucked up the courage after doing immense research to have further treatment. From the initial consultation to my 3rd session I cannot believe the improvement- the staff are all so good. They make you feel at ease and the whole procedure is fully explained and is virtually painless! I wish I could have had this opportunity years ago but I can reassure anybody seeking treatment will not be disappointed. Helen has been performing my treatment along with her colleague and I can only say they have been fabulous through out the treatment. They take their time and never seem rushed! I think I may need another session but have been advised to leave it now for 6 months in order to get a true picture of any further treatment that may be required.

Had EVLA two years ago on both legs. Initially the results were very good my legs looked so much better and I was able to wear shorts again for the first time in 10 years. However my legs still ached a great deal and I have developed new varicose veins since close to the previous ones and are bulging out once again. Guess I'm in the unlucky 5% who's treatment isn't fully successfull! Highly recommended though and I will be going back at some point for more treatment, but the thought of parting with another £2000 is hard to take.

I would happily recommend Veincentre to anyone suffering from varicose veins, the fact that they specialise in varicose veins only means they are expert in their field.

The procedure was very straight forward, took just over an hour, was virtually pain free and allowed me to go on with normal life next day.

Having found the Veincentre via an internet search and reading all the reviews I am please to say that the generally very positive reviews are well founded in my experience. I found Dr West and his staff excellent and the premises clean and practical. Personally I would have appreciated a courtesy phone call a week or so after the EVLT and I think a lot of patients may find this useful, if it were to be introduced, as even though the recovery period was uneventful and not particularly uncomfortable a little reassurance that everything was proceeding normally would have helped. I was very worried prior to the EVLT procedure that all the injections would be very painful but they turned out to be just a little uncomfortable in Dr West's capable hands.The three foam sclerotherapy sessions I have had over the following year have caused little discomfort. I am happy that I chose the Veincentre and would recommend it to anyone considering vein treatment.

Dr West and his team were professional and friendly from start to finish. I'd suffered from varicose veins for years and did not want to have the traditional 'stripping' operation.



The procedure was pain-free- and lasted only 8 minutes- with just a slight twinge when the wire was taken out. At the follow- up appointment a foam was injected to get rid of any residual vein and again this was almost pain-free. In addition, the spider veins were treated at no extra cost. The varicose vein has almost disappeared and continues to improve on a daily basis.



I am extremely happy with the result and should I ever need treatment on my other leg I would have no hesitation in contacting Dr West.

I had EVLA (laser) treatment for large unsightly veins in both legs. I had initially been concerned that the varicose veins were so large, and travelling in so many different directions, that they would require full surgical treatment rather than EVLA but this apparently wasn't an issue.

Prior to treatment it was explained to me that treatment would consist of a two stage process; laser treatment to begin with followed six weeks later by foam injections to deal with any remaining varicose veins. I was warned that there may not be much visible improvement after stage one but I was happy to discover that my previously horrible veins were in fact massively better straight away. I did still have some remaining visible veins (nothing like the previous road-map!), which I had treated at stage two yesterday; fingers crossed this will complete the transformation.

The Manchester clinic is clean, functional and comfortable without necessarily having the full "private healthcare" feel about it. It's in no way a criticism of the standard of medical care, but having to get changed in what seemed to be a storeroom doesn't give the right impression for what's to come IMHO.

The treatment itself, which is after all the key part, was excellent. Stage one - EVLA - took around an hour (possibly a little more?) and was broadly speaking painless. Afterwards I was free to walk out of the clinic almost as if nothing had happened. A week or so later I had some mild discomfort, which I understand is normal, but nothing unpleasant. I had to wear support stockings for a week and once that minor inconvenience was done with I was as good as new (well, better in fact!), with no visible signs of having had treatment and fully able to run, play football, etc. Genuinely, EVLA treatment makes the old style surgical vein removal look like something out of the dark-ages; I couldn't recommend it enough.

Stage two - foam injections into the few remaining varicose veins - was over in around half an hour, and was less invasive still, but was essentially a similar story to above.

One minor gripe is that for both phases I was asked whether I would mind if one of Dr West's assistants carried out part of the procedure, under his supervision, for training purposes. Now I know that such training is important, and it had no adverse impact on the treatment, but truth be told I'd have preferred for Dr West to do the whole thing himself. I had the option to say no but, with typical British reserve, said yes. Perhaps that's more of a lesson for me than it is for Veincentre!

Overall I would thoroughly recommend Veincentre. While I've included a couple of grumbles above they're really more by way of suggestions for improvement than anything that should be taken as any sort of complaint. They certainly aren't intended to take away from what I found to be an excellent level of care.

Total cost of treatment was around £2,000. Obviously that's a chunk of cash but having looked around elsewhere it seemed to be pretty competitive.

The EVLA treatment was mildy uncomfortable but the results were well worth it. The worst bit was wearing the surgical stocking for a week, but even that is a distant memory. I'd say my varicose vein was 90% better at 6-8 weeks.
The Foam sclerotherapy was almost painless, just the horrible surgical stocking for another week. It's been six weeks since my treatment and the bruising is slowly disappearing, though it is still slightly tender to touch.
So, in summary, I'm really pleased with the results and would highly recommend the VeinCentre. It's not cheap, but it is well worth the money.

I always felt that everyone from the clinic that I was in contact with were knowledgeable, competent and friendly and that included a trainee receptionist. Having spent the last few years putting up with dull aches, increasingly unsightly veins and the totally unsympathetic opinions of my GP (who felt I should just accept aches as part of getting older), I finally decided to take the plunge and go private. Not an easy decision on a tight budget, but in hindsight one of the best decisions I have ever made.
The staff at the Manchester clinic are very friendly and engaging. The straight talking Dr West summed up the problem in simple terms, which believe me was just what I needed to hear (for once) from the medical profession. I actually got the feeling that my well-being was more important than profit which is a far cry from the budget constraints and gate keeper roles of GPs in the modern NHS.
I can't fault the care I received, the treatment EVLA to both legs was carried out very efficiently without any measurable discomfort at all during or in post procedure phases.
I think it is important to remember that the cosmetic results are not immediate and do take time, even after the follow up visit, but the almost immediate relief from those throbbing aches makes it worth every penny. On balance the Vein Centre is excellent value for money and far more competitively priced than most service providers I researched.
My only regret is I just wish I did it years ago....

I am very impressed with the results the EVLT has had on my left leg, But the injections have made no difference at all to the vein that runs down my thigh in my right leg which is slightly disappointing because I think this will only get worse with time and wish that it was treat too with EVLT as it would of only cost me another £300 to have had it treat at the same time as my left leg and it cost £200 for the injections. Overall I am very impressed with my left leg and found the procedure painless. I am just not happy that I will probably end up having to go back and get my right leg treated again which will cost me a whole lot more than if it was treat at the same time my left leg was. I am very graetful to Dr dominic Dodd for the results in my left leg and highly recommend him as this was my worst leg it is just a shame my other leg didn't meet the criteria for EVLT.

I had my first treatment one year ago EVLT on both legs, Preformed by Dr West in London. For years i have had quite bad veins and decided it was time to finally do something about them. I was told by my doctor that my only option was to have them stripped which i did not want to do. So after a lot of research i decided to have the treatment done through VeinCentre. The reviews seemed very good and the price compared to other clinics was a lot less.
I found the EVLT a lot less uncomfortable than i thought it would be. Some mild stinging and tugging but all bearable. I wore stocking for 2 weeks and must admit on the 10th day i was in quiet a bit of discomfort, which was easily sorted with some paracetamol. I returned 6 weeks later for a follow up, my legs already looked much better but i still had a few veins i wanted gone, so i had Foam Sclerotherpy done on both legs, didn't feel a thing, then i was back in stockings for another 2 weeks. After this my legs were looking good some yellow staining and lumpiness which lasted about 6 months. I still had some veins in my calf which needed another set of injections which i have just had done 1 year on, i was told this may be the case as they were quite bit veins. Stockings come off yesterday and i am over the moon with the results. i would recommend this treatment to anyone. the worst part of it all is the stockings!! (for men anyway) but they are a big part in the treatment so its best to keep them on and bear with it. Thank you Veincentre.

First of all I would like to thank Dr. David West and nurse Joanne for the excellent result achieved on both of my legs using EVLT procedure, and for their professionalism and friendly attitude.

I had problems with veins on my legs since my late teens and was initially warned off embarking on treatment by GPs (and some other doctors). Once the condition started to worsen I decided I wanted to sort them out. I contacted several clinics in the UK and most of them would not disclose their actual price for the treatment. I also considered having the procedure performed in Lithuania (my original country) but that wasn’t the best option as it would have required several trips by air and would have used up my holiday allowance that I would prefer using for actual holidays. I approached Veincentre for the following reasons:
Clear pricelist;
Prices are the same as they are in Lithuania (in fact cheaper taking into account cost of flights);
Professional and informative phone manner when I initially contacted Veincentre;
Welcoming and warm atmosphere in Manchester centre

I had full confidence and determination in having the EVLT procedure performed after my first consultation with Dr. David West. He clearly explained the reasons of my vein problems and all available options in dealing with them. The procedure itself was straightforward, fairly pain-free and I’m very grateful to Joanne for engaging me in conversations that put my mind off the actual procedure. Dr. West is a calm individual and his demeanour puts my (and I’m sure others) minds at rest. My legs did hurt a week after the procedure, but ‘no pain, no gain’ and in any case the pain did not last long. It was great to be able to return back to normal daily activities as well (including moderate gym activity). 6 weeks after the procedure, the originally bulging veins became much smaller and I’m sure they will completely disappear after the sclerotherapy session I recently had.

Overall, I’m very happy with the result and delighted to say good-bye to those hot compression tights I had to wear on hot summer days to make my veins look less visible.

I had EVLT as I felt that the non surgical procedure would be better for me as no time off work and I could continue driving and running around my 3 children.

The procedure was explained well and I had consultation and procedure on the same day. The nurse present was lovely and chatty and did a good job of taking your mind off the procedure and Dr West was pleasant at all times but obviously busy concentrating.
The procedure was surprisingly much less painful than I suspected it would be. The local anaesthetic was the worst part as the actual laser treatment was not painful at all.
After the procedure I was made a cup of tea and sat outside. I was unsure if I needed to wait around or to walk around for a short while as the pre appointment instructions had indicated but I could not find any member of clinical staff to check with, so I left.

I followed the post procedure instructions to the letter. At my 6 week check I required some schelrotherapy injections which again were relatively painless. At this point most of the bulging had disappeared but there was still a lot of discolouration and this was worse after the schlerotherapy injections.

It is now 8 months later and although my leg looks better than it did before treatment I am a little disappointed. The veins in the treated leg are not bulging again but remain discoloured. My leg is starting to get that achey, heavy feeling in it again and the veins in the calf particularly where the bulging veins were previously are beginning to get that very itchy feeling again. I never thought the treatment would be a permanent fix but I did hope that for £2100 the effects would last for longer than 8 months. I have never had surgical treatment so I cannot say if the results would have been any different had I taken that option. I cannot say that I rush to show off my legs!

I approached Veincentre after being told by my GP that my veins weren't making me ill enough for NHS treatment. This turned out to be a blessing! I received information from the Veincentre within a day or two of sending an email enquiry, and after pondering on it for a few months (because I am a scaredy cat and terrified of needles) I contacted them to arrange a consultation.

Dr West performed the ultrasound and explained clearly to me what the problem was and how it could be treated, and I booked in to have the treatment a few weeks afterwards. I was very anxious on the day, but aside from the local anaesthetic injections I felt nothing. It was all over and done with quickly, and Joanne was great cheerfully chatting away to me throughout, helping to stop me thinking about it (and probably preventing a fainting fit!). When I returned for my 6 week check-up Dr West explained that I may not need the foam sclerotherapy, and so I decided to wait to see how it healed rather than have jabs for no reason.

I returned three weeks ago (about 5 months after the procedure) to have foam sclerotherapy as I still had a couple of small bulging veins, which is apparently completely normal after treatment (as it treats the main vein). Again, apart from the injection which did sting a little, I felt nothing. My leg is healing very well, and I have only a little tenderness and lumpiness which can take a few months to settle. I have had none of that dull aching from my veins since my first treatment, and I am really very pleased with the results.

In summary, Dr West and his team are fantastic. I would highly recommend Veincentre for effective treatment that avoids general anaesthetics, NHS waiting lists, and allows you to carry on with life as normal. They were professional, efficient, and at all times I have felt confident that I was getting the best treatment from the experts.

I had previous experience of varicse veins when i was in my 20's. Back then it was an NHS operation to have the vein stripped out of the leg. to be honest i don't remember what it was like other than i knew i could hardly walk for about a week, but once over that the result was superb. never had another problem with that leg.

So fast forward 20 years or so and it was time to deal with the other leg which had been getting progressively worse for the last 10 years. I was referred to Dr West from my GP as he was both local and highly regarded nationally. A few weeks later and i was signed up to have the laser treatment to remove the vein.

Prior to the operation, i was a little anxious to be fair, i was uncertain about exactly how the procedure would work and what would be left inside my leg after. if i'm honest i still don't really understand how it all works, but i was happy to defer to the expertise of Dr West.

The procedure itself was very straightforward, even with my fairly unique 'wiring' it was all done in the space of 90 minutes. The local anesthetic and the weapons grade pain killers pretty much had me sorted for the first 3/4 days. There was some aching but nothing that a little feet up time would not solve. The advice i had was that between days 5-7 it might start to hurt, in my case i was fine up to day 7, then things changed. Unusually i suffered considerable pain and discomfort between the 7th and 21st day. All of a sudden it felt that the inside of my leg was too short for the outside of my leg. lots of pain, lots of aching and lots of throbbing. Halfway through i had to seek more advice from veincentre. After speaking to Dr West i was assured that everything i was experiencing was normal if a little unusual, i was advised to bear with it and that the pain would go as quickly as it arrived. Sure enough after the 21st day things soon returned to normal. its worth mentioning that i think i was unlucky and that its quite unusual to experience the discomfort that i did. i might add that during all this, i was going about my life as normal, working, gym, moving around - all fine. i didn't do that after i had the first leg stripped 20 years ago!

Anyway, 8 weeks on and its brilliant, the vein is all but gone. I just recently had some follow up treatment on one part of the vein, but that has provided absolutely no pain or discomfort at all. to look at, you would not know i had had a problem. Its superb.worth every pound!

One final point and one for the blokes rather than the girls. The support stocking, which is essential for the 2 weeks after the treatment, is tragic. It just did not stay up. probably due to my having hairy legs. So be prepared to take extreme measures to ensure the stocking stays up!

i'd recommend this treatment to anyone, medical science has moved on since the days of stripping veins and this is definitely the way to go.

So when I developed another one in the other leg I was so upset I didn't want to go through such a big operation again!! 10 years ago i had my veins stripped which was very painful and required a lot of time off work. They returned and I opted for this treatment. the procedure was virtually painless although there was some discomfort for a couple of weeks after. the veins have virtually all gone and I would highly recommend Dr West.

Fantastic service and much cheaper than any other clinic i had research. The operation was quick and painless and besides a week or so of bruising had little side effects. The EVLA treatment was particularly effective on the larger vein on my right leg, there was bruising,but this cleared after a week or so and the result was fantastic, no visible vein to be seen at all. The sclerotherapy on the other leg, was very quick and painless apart from the bruising . Here I have been left with a little discolouration around the site (after nearly 3 months) but it does seem to be fading.
A very professional service I would recommend to anyone.

Having recently had Endovenous Laser Ablation on my legs at The Vein Centre I can highly recommend them and their compassionate, personable, and highly qualified professional staff that took me through the procedure. The experience was amazing and the treatment fully explained to me each step of the way. The results of which have left me with wonderful looking legs - something that has been noticed by my family, friends, and all who know me at the sports club I attend.  The procedure and recovery were quick and I was able to continue  with my daily life immediately.  Here's to wearing swimsuits again without unsightly blemishes!! I would highly recommend this treatment rather than the dated stripping Which friends have had with poor results and long recovery times.

As a medic with high standards, I was delighted by the treatment I received from Dr West. The whole experience was positive and I would recommend Veincentre unreservedly to anyone requiring varicose vein repair. I was impressed by the receptionists who provided additional information and a convenient time quickly, professionally and in a friendly manner. The actual procedure took half an hour, was painless and made fun by Jo the senior sister present during the treatment. That day I attended my regular gym class and the procedure did not interfere with any of my daily activities. Most importantly the pesky varicose veins have disappeared! Thanks Dr West.
Another thing, the cost of the treatment was reasonable and the vein centre is the only site which displays the costs and provides comparisons.

I am a consultant occupational physician. I researched the laser treatment of varicose veins very carefully. I was sold on it and happily underwent the procedure, under Dr David West at the Vein Centre in London, which was virtually painless and lasted 45 mins. I exercised in the gym the next day and played tennis the day after that. I wore a compression stocking for 2+ weeks and had the mildest of discomfort. I was not restricted in any way. This local anaesthetic procedure is surely the way forward for the future and I would thoroughly recommend it.

After having previous vein 'stripping' operations on the NHS and further appointments for other possible treatments I decided to search for other ideas on the internet. I was intrigued by the relatively new procedure of vein laser therapy (EVLT) and even watched videos of it being performed on the internet! Despite being very apprehensive of being awake for the procedure Dr West showed great professionalism in keeping me informed of what was happening. The injections are uncomfortable, but the actual laser cannot be felt. Day five is meant to be the most uncomfortable as the vein contracts, and sure enough I was in agony. A phone call to the centre assured me that this would pass and it did. The results are amazing, the huge varicose lump on the front of my leg is absolutely none existent. I am now planning for next year to get the back of my other leg lasered. If I can do it so can you, money well spent and now I can actually wear a skirt without feeling like everyone is staring at me! Thank you all at Vein Centre x

I have recently had laser treatment performed by Dr West at his Macclesfield clinic. I have been really happy with the service right from the first phone call, the staff have all been very friendly and happy to help with any queries I had about the treatment, and with the company being small you really feel as if you are getting personal attention. I was also reassured by the fact that Dr West has so much experience of performing this procedure and found him to be very approachable and understanding about my condition. Despite feeling apprehensive about what the procedure would be like, I was amazed at how pain free it was, and was glad that I couldn't see anything of what was happening other than the ultrasound screen. The atmosphere was very relaxed and I found myself quite happily chatting to the nurse throughout. I was also able to take my ipod and listen to my own choice of music. I did experience a tight sensation in my leg for about a week after, but I was able to go back to work the next day and really wasn't affected by it at all in my daily activities. A friend of mine was amazed as she had taken 3 weeks off work following an operation to have her veins stripped surgically. The stockings weren't the most glamorous but did serve their purpose and two weeks of wearing them passed by surprisingly quickly. I didn't have a lot of varicose veins visible before treatment, although they did ache a lot. The large veins that were visible responded to the laser treatment straight away and have not needed any further injections. Overall I am most impressed and cannot believe how stress free the whole experience has been.

I can not rate the EVLT treatment offered by Dr West highly enough. As an uninsured patient, my husband and I have had to pay for the treatment ourselves but we are agreed that is has been worth every penny that we have spent on it. I suffered from debilitating pain in both my legs despite having only superficial visible varicosity. My GP secured me initial consultations with an NHS hospital where after two scans, I was informed that there was nothing wrong with my deep or superficial vein system. Dr West, however, identified intermittent reflux and proposed the EVLT treatment. He was very careful to make me aware that the treatment might not be successful, as my symptoms were not standard but felt that there was a good chance that it would be. Happily he was right! The EVLT treatment took place at the North Staffordshire Hospital and both my husband and I were very impressed with the level of professionalism and care offered by the staff. The treatment itself was minimally invasive but the discomfort experienced afterwards was greater than expected albeit relatively short lived. However I believe that this will depend upon the individual and their circumstances. I suffered from very little external bruising but did have a few trauma-induced thread veins. These soon disappeared. Since the EVLT treatment, I have had two follow up sessions to treat minor residual reflux. The second of these treatments was particularly impressive as the veins were small and difficult to access, which meant that I had to be treated whilst standing and then lie down. Overall, however, the consultations and treatments have been very straightforward. The most difficult part has been the wait after each session to see how well the treatment has worked. It is worth noting that I did not notice all the improvements from the treatment as soon as the support tights were removed. These were gradually felt in the 2 - 6 weeks after the treatment. Throughout the treatment, Dr West has been very professional, knowledgeable and involved. The latter was very important to me having experienced the dis-jointed treatment offered by the NHS where the scans, diagnosis and consultations were all carried out by different people. It was also nice to be taken seriously for change when talking about the pain being experienced in my legs - sometimes varicose veins do not have to be large to be painful!
